BACKGROUND:
Brian was born and raised in Royal Oak, MI. After graduating from Kimball High School in 1996, he briefly attended Michigan State University, before deciding to join the US Army.
Brian would spend 4 years on active duty, including tours in Germany, Bosnia, Albania (Kosovo) and Fort Hood, Texas. After transitioning from active duty to the Texas Army National Guard, Brian obtained his associate's degree from Central Texas College, with honors. Brian and family moved to Tucson, AZ in spring of 2002. Brian enrolled in the architecture program at the University of Arizona, and transferred to the Arizona Army National Guard.
In November 2003, Brian received deployment orders that would send him to Iraq for 12 months. Although his commitment to the government ended in January 2005, Brian was involuntarily extended for 3 additional months because the government said so!
After returning from Iraq, the family lived briefly in Colorado Springs before moving to Warren, Michigan in August 2005, to be close to Brian's large extended family. Brian began working in the construction industry. Brian was a project manager, estimator, and operations manager for a disaster restoration company in metro Detroit for several years. During this time he was mobilized to Texas, Missouri, Florida, North Carolina, Illinois, Iowa, and New Jersey in support of various disaster relief efforts.
In 2015, at 37 years old, Brian enrolled in a local police academy. Brian was awarded the top academic award as well as the leadership award (as voted by peers) upon graduation.
In 2016, Brian returned to the construction industry, as a project superintendent with a well known commercial construction company. After completing a couple projects as a superintendent, Brian applied and was awarded a promotion to estimator.
Brian currently works as an estimator in the construction industry.
POLITICS AND ACTIVISM:
In 2017, Brian began a campaign for US Senate in Michigan. Due to the ballot access requirements, he switched to a run for Congress in Michigan's 8th congressional district. Throughout the campaign, Brian achieved local, national, and international press coverage for his "Arm the Homeless" initiative.
Late in the election cycle, following the killing by police of 2 unarmed young men in his home town of Royal Oak, MI, Brian focused his campaign and activism on the issue of police violence. He was twice arrested for his protests, both of which can be seen on his YouTube channel.
Brian participated in 3 candidate forums during the election, including 2 with current congresswoman Elissa Slotkin and former congressman Mike Bishop. These forums can also be seen on YouTube.
Brian collaborated with a team to develop "Thin Blue Line - The Game", a one-of-a-kind law enforcement simulation card game, following the 2018 election.
Brian is currently a lifetime member of the Libertarian party of Michigan, the current chair of the LPM Legislative Committee, and a sustaining member of the national LP.
Aside from seeking the LP nomination for president, Brian is also running for the position of secretary of the Libertarian National Committee.
Brian currently works as a construction estimator and pre-construction project manager.
